The Lower and Higher Self

Most people only associate themselves with their physical body. Human beings are multi-dimensional beings, experiencing much more than meets the eye. Everything in the universe is energy, and energy vibrates are lower and higher states.

What you experience in the physical realm is energy vibrating in alignment with the physical world. But, you can become aware of lower and higher frequencies. When you tap into these aspects of yourself, you can learn about your true nature on a deeper level.

How Do You Experience Your Other Selves

Have you ever felt out of control? Or guided? These may be instances where your consciousness is accessing other "selves," and this is influencing your life in the physical realm. Your consciousness is the tool used to access the other aspects of your being, as it allows you to have an awareness of them.

You can use your consciousness to tap into higher or lower states in order to gain truth and see the whole world for what it truly is.

The Different Levels of the Self

Your true self is actually a culmination of all of these aspects and, when balanced, can be a source of empowerment. The 'Self' is divided into multiple dimensions and realms. To make this simple, you can divide yourself into three categories.

The Lower Self

The lower self exists disconnected from your spiritual nature. When operating from the lower self, you're stuck trapped in fear, worry, and disempowerment. The lower self operates strictly from the ego self. The world around you may seem abrasive, you feel unable to meet your needs, and you lack higher consciousness.

When you experience a powerful negative emotion can cause your consciousness to travel and exist within the lower aspect of your being. When you're here, finding meaning and purpose in your experience can be challenging. But, if you're aware, you can use the experiences of the lower self to help uncover subconscious programming and beliefs that may be hindering your experience. If your main mission in life is only to accumulate more money, this is a sign you're operating in the lower self, and from this perspective, you will never truly have enough money to meet your needs.

Here, you can reflect on why you constantly seek more money or finances and why this is such an important aspect of your life. There may be an issue regarding money, protection, and support, and you may be lacking these feelings in your life in other ways. This is just one example of how you can use the lower self to help cultivate a new sense of awareness and use it to better yourself.

The Higher Self

The Higher Self is the aspect of you that has access to the higher dimensional planes of reality. This is your spiritual empowerment, your key to navigating your existence's universal laws and truths.

The higher self is your dear friend, watching over you, guiding you, and playing an important role in your development. From this elevated awareness, the higher self is observing your past and future lives and taking responsibility as part of your soul's journey.

If you ever feel a nudge in a certain direction, have an intuitive download, or gain insight or clarity out of the blue, this is a sign that your higher self is helping you along the way. You can access the perspective of your higher self through meditation.

Slowing down the mind, disconnecting from the body, and having the intention to connect with your higher self will grant you access to this newfound power. As you practice tapping into your higher self more frequently, you'll better understand how to embody it. Your soul, spirit, intuition, guidance, higher levels of knowledge, spiritual health, and light are all associated with the higher self.

How the Higher Self Influences the Lower Self

The higher self influences the lower self by guiding you into certain experiences that may push you into the lower realms. For instance, if you stay in an experience that isn't beneficial for you but refuse to tap into your empowerment and remove yourself from it.

Eventually, your higher self may push you into a lower experience in order to shake your spirit. Since the higher self has a much broader perspective, it can understand exactly what needs to occur to push you out of that experience and what you can handle without completely breaking you or the foundation you've built.

This helps wake you up to the truth of the matter and helps you see more clearly than ever that you can no longer continue in it.

Your True Self

Your true self is the culmination of both the higher and lower selves. True simply reflects doing everything as you are right now.

In the movie "Everything, Everywhere, All at Once," the protagonist experiences shifting through all of the different levels of her existence, all dimensions, realms--everything. This is her true self, the aspect of her that contains all of the darkness, the light, the good, the evil, and everything in between.

The true self is similar as it contains the awareness of your lower self and the awareness of your higher self, or a lack of awareness of the two. Depending on where you are in your spiritual journey, you may use the higher and lower self to move forward, gain insight into your inner workings, and use this knowledge to transform and uncover your empowerment.

The next time you feel consciousness shifting, try to determine whether it's into your higher self perspective or into your lower self.

This can help you determine what you can learn, how you can grow, and if there are any changes that are necessary to continue along your journey. Try not to resist either of these states, as they are just as much of a part of you as any other. The only thing that matters is whether staying in these states is beneficial for you and what you do with that awareness.

Connecting with your higher self

If you feel that your higher self is talking to you and you want to understand it more, or you simply want to overcome your lower self, there are steps you can take.

The first is to clear the negative energy from your spiritual and physical body. As children, we are perfectly pure and content with life. But, the mind becomes filled with all kinds of stresses and worldly concerns that remove us from our natural state. Simple, playful joy is replaced by insecurities, pressures, worries, self-doubt, ego, and many other harmful energies that weigh us down. It is these energies that lead us to make decisions that are self-destructive. They're what make us treat others poorly and act in a way that worsens the world.

Therefore, a clear first step for more fully integrating your higher self is to cleanse these energies. A great start is meditation.

Meditating is a great way to connect with your inner power. You can identify where your energy flows are blocked or bogged down, and eradicate them. In meditation, you should seek to clear your mind, deeply relax your muscles, and allow your Intuition to flow freely to you. The most important answers can be found here.

As you reduce the pools of negative energy, you need to open yourself up to the gifts of your higher self. These become most evident in daily, waking life. The higher self speaks to you in a way that promotes your best, healthiest self. It trickles down to every minor decision. Even when you are making a decision to either go to the gym or watch TV, your higher self hangs in the balance.

By listening to and honoring this little voice, you will increase your connection to it. This is how you grow your bond with your Higher Self over time, and move towards the greatest version of you.
